Spring is here! Bring fresh ideas to life with your videography marketing strategy.
We live in a content-heavy world! Businesses need to maximize their content in order to be seen and raise their heads above the competition. But how to do this effectively with your video marketing content?
Why make one when you can make multiple? There is no reason why the deliverable should be just one video. The Alliance Group (thealliancegroup.com) wisely implemented this strategy with their investment in a hype reel for their executive team trip to Punta Cana. Showcasing their fabulously dynamic team and the unique bond that they share, the video was also edited into a shorter version for use on multiple platforms.
As ranky.co says, repurpose everything Repurpose everything!
Any good production company will be laser-focused on ensuring you get the most return on your investment to ensure the end result is a happy client with an archive of content to showcase as they need it!
Planning your videography from the outset is the key to success!
Pre-production planning meetings will always include a multitude of questions with your production team, looking to capture as much information as possible to meet the anticipated needs.
As you consider your videography, ask yourself what platforms are your clients using and how can you use new content to raise your profile, to get the most from your marketing budget. Where does your audience spend their time? Where is worth investing your dollars and your time? If your audience is older, forget TikTok. Think about maximizing that LinkedIn profile. Are you regularly blogging, vlogging, and writing newsletters? It may seem exhausting, but with a strategic plan, it’s all perfectly doable.
For every longer-form video, there’s a shorter video waiting to be cut!
With audience’s spending only an average of 10 seconds on a website, you need to make an impact quickly. If you’re looking for an explainer video on your website, think about what soundbites would make ideal content for Instagram or Facebook, to generate further interest. Is there the potential for a loop reel hiding in your video somewhere? Dangle that carrot to create engagement!
Share a sneaky peak!
Everyone loves to share a behind-the-scenes image. A little sneak peek into your day, particularly if it’s an out-of-the-ordinary type of day where you were imagining yourself as a movie star! Utilize your behind-the-scenes images to create excitement! Spark interest in ‘coming soon’ content. Showcase the glamour of the production set, as the Northern Virginia Family Service team did! Create evergreen content to ensure your video project has maximum views
If your video is getting showcased at an event, be sure not to limit the views to people that were present at that event. There is no good reason to limit the viewership. With just a little more edit time, you can add in a new intro / outro / maybe a new call to action, and have a whole new video to showcase on different platforms. Suddenly, many, many more eyes on you!
An example of this is a nonprofit client who is currently working on a project for a fundraising event. The video, speaking to the life-changing impact of their work, will be shared for the first time at the May event to live music, carefully choreographed to have an instrumental section during the up sounds. It will be emotional and poignant. However, post the event, these contributions are too valuable in every sense to be left one and done, so the music will change, there will be re-cut, and a whole new audience awaits. More eyes, more fundraising opportunities! Everyone is
happy!
Caption Caption Caption!
Did you know that 85% of viewers watch videos without audio? And although some platforms will auto-caption, there are a million variables out there, and accents open doors for error. These are machines, and they are not checked, so ensure your production company adds captions to your content so that your message is shared exactly as you planned it!
And finally, keep the footage
Storing your footage indefinitely is a wise, forward-thinking move. You may not anticipate at this moment needing a recut, but who knows if a team member may leave or move on, as circumstances change. If you have your footage stored on an external hard drive, you will have the ability to instigate a simple, low-cost recut. This was the case for an Arlington-based drug rehabilitation center. With some staffing movements, it was important that the correct program manager was introducing their program on the online videos. They are the face of their program and want to connect with their audience. With the raw footage still accessible, we were able to recut the video, adding in new team members while keeping the original Broll and narrative.
And if you’re still not sure, take inspiration from the words of filmmaker Mike Nichols, “The only safe thing is to take a chance.”
